On Sunday, 13th October 2025, Ghana officially launched the December in GH 2025 campaign, a flagship celebration under the Beyond the Return initiative led by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture together with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). The colourful ceremony was held at the Banquet Hall of the Jubilee House in Accra and brought together government officials, tourism stakeholders, creatives, and event organizers from across the country. In her address, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, described December in GH as more than just a festive calendar. According to her, it is a cultural movement that celebrates Ghanaian creativity, identity, and the strong connection between Ghana and the African diaspora. She also highlighted the government’s commitment to strengthening Ghana’s tourism and creative industries through collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development. The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, revealed that the 2024 edition attracted over 200,000 international visitors, generating millions in tourism revenue while supporting thousands of local businesses across Ghana. The initiative forms an important part of Beyond the Return, the 10-year campaign designed to reconnect the African diaspora with their roots while positioning Ghana as a leading destination for culture and heritage tourism.
